GROUP NAME / RESEARCH INTEREST IN FEW WORDS:
Laboratorio de Bionanotecnologَía
SHORT SUMMARY OF RESEARCH INTEREST:
Our research group focuses on the development of new nanotechnologies oriented toward pharmacy, cosmetology and food. The zebrafish is the selected model for us to carry out nanotoxicological studies of nanomaterials, both in our laboratory and in others groups with which we have scientific collaborations
LIST OF UP TO FIVE RELEVANT PUBLICATIONS:
(2019) Comparative toxicity of PEG and folate-derived blue-emitting silicon nanoparticles: in vitro and in vivo studies.
(2018) Folic acid magnetic nanotheranostics for delivering doxorubicin: Toxicological and biocompatibility studies on Zebrafish embryo and larvae.
(2018) Zebrafish (Danio rerio) model as an early stage screening tool to study the biodistribution and toxicity profile of doxorubicin-loaded mixed micelles.
(2018) Dibucaine in Ionic-Gradient Liposomes: Biophysical, Toxicological, and Activity Characterization.
(2018) In vivo study of teratogenic and anticonvulsant effects of antiepileptics drugs in zebrafish embryo and larvae.

FISH FACILITIES:
We have two homemade aquatic systems, similar to commercial ones, with 6 fish tanks in each one, with a maximum capacity of 20 fish per fish tank. We have 1 quarantine tank and 4 mate tanks.
Room with controlled temperature at 25 ° C and light / dark cycle
FISH LINES KEPT IN STOCK:
Wild type
OTHER EQUIPMENT RELATED TO ZEBRAFISH RESEARCH:
We currently have an aquarium inside the facilities of the University. The head of the aquarium is Dr. Jimena Prieto, a researcher with extensive experience in the study in zebrafish. The aquarium has 12 tanks in continuous circulation, 2 with static system and 2 for filter and circulation systems. All are synchronized with light control, aeration and adequate temperatures; They have thermostats, filtration system and a conditioner cold / heat for air conditioning of the place. The aquarium has a constant population of fish adults, embryos and eggs. By 2019, the UNQ will have a new highly complex bioterium certified by the corresponding organizations for the realization of services of 450 m 2, inside which will be a new aquarium of 20 m 2.
LAB EXPERTISE AND TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES (RELATED TO ZEBRAFISH RESEARCH):
Toxicology studies
Spontaneous swimming
Cardiotoxicity
Hepatoxicity
Morphological changes
Changes in the hatching
DL50
Cartilage staining
Migration of neutrophils
Histology
