RESEARCH INTEREST IN FEW WORDS:

To study the signaling pathways that are triggered due to change in the elastics properties of the extracellular matrix

SHORT SUMMARY OF RESEARCH INTEREST (MAX. 200 WORDS):

I am starting my project in the study of the effect of the basement membrane stiffness during melanoma migration and invasiveness. The idea is to identify the mecano-receptors that are able to transmit the tensional forces to the intra-cellular environment and which are the pathways that are being activated in this process.

At the moment I am finishing my research in the laboratory of Dr Justin Sturge (Imperial College London) and moving to the Departamento de Genética de la Facultad de Medicina (UDeLaR). I am applying for a fellowship (from CSIC) to return to Uruguay. Among my plans is to establish my research line in the Department.
