GROUP NAME / RESEARCH INTEREST IN FEW WORDS: Zebradvances UFSCar, Zebrafish Research and Innovation Center UFSCar. Main interests are related to the development of Zebrafish models and the establishment of tests that allow the toxicological screening of chemical compounds and drugs under development and their correlation with mammalian models.

SHORT SUMMARY OF RESEARCH INTEREST (MAX. 200 WORDS):

LIST OF UP TO FIVE RELEVANT PUBLICATIONS:

We are recent researchers with the zebrafish model, so our efforts have focused on establishing methodologies and developing zebrafish models. Some research has been carried out but is under evaluation in the respective journals. We currently have three projects under development. 1. Development of a drug toxicology screening facility; 2. Production of Inbred Zebrafsh and 3. Masculinization of gynogenetic zebrafish.

LAB EXPERTISE AND TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES (RELATED TO ZEBRAFISH RESEARCH)*

The group emerged two years ago with the proposal to use zebrafish in UFSCar research, during which time the Zebrafish production vivarium was established, established toxicological screening methodologies validated in the literature and by the OECD (acute, cardiac, neurological and liver toxicity), and now, we are establishing methodologies for immunological and endocrine toxicological screening. In addition, 2 softwares were developed that allow the cardiotoxic assessment and assessment of tail movement more accurately and faster. Additionally we are developing a line of SPF clonal zebrafish for use in toxicological screening, which will allow us more accurate and reproducible results over generations.
